Surgery sets the foundation. Recovery finishes the work. At Dr. Mike Roskies, recovery isn’t a waiting period—it’s an actively guided phase that supports comfort, calms inflammation, and helps skin heal with clarity. Led by our Head of Recovery, your plan is mapped to your procedure, your timeline, and your goals. This page outlines our core therapies, when they’re used, and how they fit together—without hype or promises we can’t make.
Every plan starts with the procedure you’ve had (or will have) and the way your tissues naturally heal. We sequence therapies to respect surgical anatomy, incision care, and the doctor’s orders. Early visits focus on swelling control and gentle signaling; later phases emphasize hydration, scar quality, and collagen support. Nothing is one-size-fits-all. Everything is coordinated with your surgeon’s clearance.
Core Therapies
What it is: Non-invasive light panels that bathe skin in specific wavelengths.
Why we use it: To support cellular activity, calm visible redness, and provide a gentle nudge toward balance.
Timing: From day one. We can immediately begin post-procedure in the recovery room and continue at follow-ups. Red light is prioritized early; blue can be incorporated later for breakout-prone skin. Offered Ă la carte and within our enhanced recovery packages.
What it is: Low-intensity ultrasound and hands-on lymphatic work to encourage fluid movement.
Why we use it: To address post-op swelling and stiffness by supporting lymphatic clearance in the early phase.
Timing: Most effective in the first 1–3 weeks after surgery when your surgeon clears the area. Sessions are gentle, brief, and targeted.
What they are: Cell-derived vesicles rich in signaling factors, applied topically to support communication in the local tissue environment.
Why we use them: For inflammation control and cellular repair support during the acute and remodeling phases.
Timing & use cases:
What it is: A medical-grade platform combining deep cleansing, micro-polishing, targeted serums, and electroporation to enhance penetration.
Why we use it: For hydration, nutrient delivery, and later-phase scar remodeling support once the skin barrier is intact.
Timing: Typically 3–4 weeks post-op after incisions are closed and the skin is cleared for treatment. Earlier for non-surgical patients.
What it is: A topical carbon dioxide gel mask used in-clinic and at home.
Why we use it: To support skin oxygenation, a key element in orderly wound healing and barrier repair.
Timing: Pre-procedure to prep skin and post-procedure to nurture stressed areas as directed by your provider.
We also coordinate with recovery habits outside our walls—hyperbaric oxygen, sauna, cold plunge—though these are not offered in-house. We’ll advise on timing and safety relative to your procedure.
What You Can Expect (Phase by Phase)
You’ll leave surgery with a clear plan. LED can start immediately. Ultrasound/lymphatic begins when cleared to address tightness and visible swelling. If exosomes are part of your protocol, they may be applied intraoperatively or right after the procedure per Dr. Roskies’ direction.
Short, gentle sessions continue. We focus on comfort, incision hygiene per your surgical aftercare, and measured support (LED; ultrasound as indicated). No facial devices on open wounds. Communication stays tight with your surgical team.
Most patients are cleared for BelaMD with electroporation to rehydrate the skin and better deliver nutrients with our medical grade products, and begin soft tissue remodeling. CO2Lift masks may be layered between visits. For laser patients, exosomes remain on the table as restorative topicals.
We space visits to maintain gains and refine scar quality. LED can continue periodically. Exosome boosters may be added for skin or scalp health. Plans are updated as your tissues settle.
For patients who want ongoing, guided care, we offer exclusive 12-month recovery memberships. These include a curated calendar of the therapies above—personalized by our Head of Recovery—to maintain, refine, and amplify your results. Memberships keep treatments purposeful rather than piecemeal, so you see progress you can actually feel and measure. (Individual treatments are also available à la carte.)
Safety, Oversight & Expectations
All therapies are coordinated with surgical aftercare and performed only when medically appropriate. We avoid treating overactive infections, open wounds, or photosensitive conditions until cleared. We don’t claim to “shorten” recovery; biology and procedure type set the timeline. Our role is to support comfort, optimize conditions for healing, and improve final scar quality where possible. Results vary.
